Am tired of LUMS today officially (translated: am bored and am now moving to into my regular flitting mode where I skip people and jobs after six months). Occupational therapy now dictates a move to Karachi. Or if I can find some fascinating research institute somewhere. There is one in Colombo but I have a grumpy feeling about Colombo.
In half an hour have to go survey with one half of the girls on political cultures *rolls her eyes* I really don't subscribe to attributing everything to culture without at least examining underlying institutions. I guess I'm just tired of the "flim-flam" discourse that academics embroil themselves in. The whole obsession with theoretical paradigms, I mean honestly, talk about an ivory tower. Reams of paper that would be a lot more action oriented as toilet paper.
Burri leaves for Kenya tomorrow injected poppy full of anti-yellar fever and types, have told him to come back with loads of Masai stuff for moi (Miguel our local continent hugger Portuguese tells me is THE thing to get from there). Two weeks. Who will I compulsively e-mail (actually as precedent goes, probably him still, it's fairly disturbign if you think about it, I don't require him to be there as aperson to e-mail him, don't even really require him to read it. Which he rarely does anyway, given that he has the attention span of a mosquito).

In answer to your question elsewhere...I spent several years in Pakistan and Afghanistan and then some more in other muslim countries.....hence the occasional Insh'allah...
